Thirty years later, Chris designs AI systems that write the code, and works with businesses on how to benefit from this tech. Since 2023 he has worked towards fully autonomous AI development - detailed specs in - working software out (see EposForge on GitHub).

For fun, Chris and his wife Dede go off-grid high in the Rocky Mountains to work on their family cabins.

Detailed Biography

Chris came into software development by running a medical transportation business. He built a database that cut 40 hours of weekly paperwork down to 10, and he was hooked. He sold the business and went to work with a small firm building genetics software for ranchers.

That was thirty years ago. Since then Chris has built production systems in C#, SQL Server, and Azure for startups and international companies alike. That work includes a real-time ETL pipeline serving 1,800 mining sites for Bridgestone, the API that finally joined two separately run reservation and rental systems at Vail Resorts, and a Roslyn source generator at WiseTech Global that removed a legacy dependency blocking CargoWise's move to modern .NET. He has performed with teams in every role: gathering requirements, architecting, leading, developing, administering systems, testing, and answering tier 3 support calls.

Chris still writes code every day, and he likes helping the people around him get better at it. At WiseTech he helped raise Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption by 30% in two months by presenting to coworkers how he used it in his own work, and showing them one on one how to use it in theirs. He also introduced spec-driven LLM code generation on a new C# project, which sped up delivery by 40%.

Since 2023 Chris has been working toward fully autonomous AI development, sometimes called a “dark factory”: engineers write the specs, and AI agents write, test, and ship the code. He is building a vendor-neutral blueprint for how the pieces fit together. See EposForge on GitHub.
